FGNPC Powers Up Lagos with 60MVA,132/33kV Transformer Boost at Ajah Substation

FGN Power Company (FGNPC) has taken a significant step towards improving power supply in Lagos State. Under its Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), the FGNPC has installed and commissioned a 60MVA,132/33kV Power Transformer to replace the existing 60MVA transformer that was derated to 15MVA capacity due to ageing at the Ajah Transmission Substation.

This new transformer, a crucial addition to the power grid, has increased the substation’s capacity by 48MW combined with the 63MVA Mobile Substation earlier commissioned, brings the total capacity to 224MW. This is a substantial boost, considering the substation previously had a capacity of 153MW.

The 60MVA transformer will play a vital role in enabling the efficient transmission of electricity to the Eko Distribution Company’s (Eko Disco) injection substation, serving customers in Ajah, VGC, Lekki, and surrounding areas. This installation is part of the FGNPC’s ongoing efforts to enhance the country’s power infrastructure and improve electricity delivery to consumers.

The increased capacity at the Ajah Transmission Substation will directly benefit residents and businesses in the area, providing much-needed relief from the persistent power shortages that have plagued the region in the past. With the combined capacity of the Mobile Substation and Power Transformer now at 224MW, the FGNPC has made significant strides in improving power supply in Lagos.

This increased capacity will contribute to economic growth, enhance the quality of life for residents, and support the development of businesses and industries in the region. The FGNPC’s commitment to improving power infrastructure is a positive development for Lagos and the entire country.
